Thanksgiving Fun

Students at St. George Elementary have been getting ready for Thanksgiving learning about the voyage to Plymouth Rock on the Mayflower, the Pigrims, Wampanoags, and the first Thanksgiving.  Not only have learned about the history of the voyage to a new land but the struggles they encountered as well as the customs of the Pilgrims and Wampanoags as well as how they helped each other to learn about the land and how to plant crops. . . .

Girls On The Run Prepares for 5k

Girls On The Run has been meeting twice a week since September.  Girls On The Run is a fun organization that is about so much more than running. During their meetings the girls get together and talk about their week while sharing feelings and positive interactions.  This is meant to build friendships among the girls.  They also set goals for themselves and goals as a group striving to meet these personal and group goals . . .

Firefighters Visit St. George

Students from Kindergarten to Sixth Grade got to enjoy a visit from the local firefighters.  The firefighters talked about fire safety such as not using matches without an adult, what to do in the event of a fire, showed them the fire trucks and let them spray the fire hose.  Their main message was to not be afraid of firefighters and what their job is if they are trapped in a building that is on fire.  They taught the . . .

Emily Gehrt is NOVEMBER'S TEACHER OF THE MONTH!!

Teacher of the Month

USD 323 is proud to announce that Eagle Communications of Manhattan, Kansas has awarded Emily Gehrt the November Teacher of the Month!  She is a Sixth Grade teacher at St. George Elementary.  There are 22 students in Mrs. Gehrt's class.  The November Teacher of the Month Award was aired on stations Q Country 103.5 and the Little Apple Post, November 29th @ 12:30 p.m.  Congratulations Emily, thank you . . .

Veterans Visit St. George Elementary

Area Veterans visited St. George Elementary. They were recognized for their service in the branch of military by the Rock Creek High School band playing each branch's theme song among other songs about America such as "God Bless America" and "The Star Spangled Banner".  Students held up the branch of the military with it's coordinating flag as the band played and the Veterans stood to be recognized. . . .

Fall Family Fun Food and Fitness Night a Success

St. George Elementary held their second Fall Family Fun Food and Fitness Night Tuesday, September 13.  There were close to 250 people attending. St. George Student's Art Published

   Fourth grade student, Anna Felgenhauer had her art work, "Lady Liberty" published in a book of art from Celebrating Art.  The company chooses art submitted from students all over the world to publish in the book.  The top 10 pieces of art are awarded prizes.  There were 100's of pieces submitted last spring and Anna's watercolor was chosen to be spotlighted in the book.  Great job Anna!
