Loading up the horse-drawn hayrack for a ride to the pumpkin patch!

To the Pumpkin Patch We Went!

October 19, 2006

Families and some friends of the Rock Creek Parents as Teachers program took advantage of the beautiful weather on Thursday, October 19th and visited the Burch Acres Pumpkin Patch (9 miles south of Wamego on Hiway 99, east on Hinerville Road).  The kiddos tromped through the straw maze, played with Jack the dog and then loaded onto the horse drawn hayrack for a trip out to the pumpkin patch.  The hayrack was pulled by two huge, part-Belgian horses named Thunder and Bell.

Big 'ole horses...Bell (white) and Thunder (black) to pull the hayrack!

The children all had the opportunity to touch Thunder's nose and stroke his mane before riding out to the patch where everyone picked out a bright orange pumpkin to take home.  Lots of laughter and lots of pictures will make for loads of great memories for everyone.
