Place Value Pockets

It's State Assessment Time

by Charla Adcock

April 02, 2008

It is that time of year again when we are gearing up and taking the State Assessments.  The third and fourth graders at SGES are working hard to review all the skills that they have learned.  As part of the review, the students were practicing place value in a game with two teams racing to fill in the pockets with the correct numerals.  The game got harder as the students had to work problems to find the correct numeral for each pocket.

Go BRONCS Go!

This year, the third and fourth grade team chose to do a pep rally the day before the assessments.  For reading, we had a chant, some inspiration, some tips, and of course the “Electric Slide.”  We went to the gym and did the “Electric Slide” to become electrified for the assessments.  When gearing up for the math assessment, we went outside and did chants and a cheer:

Take a deep breath,
Go with the flow,
Just do your best,
And show what you know!

Notes of Encouragement for 5-6

Our school is great a being supportive and cheering on the others!  The Broncs have made cards, notes of inspiration, and posters for the 5-6 graders, who are also assessing.  Broncs have received notes, cards, and even Easter egg inspirations from the 1-2 graders.  Thanks for all the support and we will continue to TRY OUR HARDEST and DO OUR BEST on the Math Assessments next week.
