What We Did This Summer

September 04, 2008

The Rock Creek Parents as Teachers (PAT) program had an eventful summer.  In addition to our regularly scheduled weekly playgroups, we had the opportunity to do some extra activities. The PAT program offered parents the opportunity to meet at the Sunset Zoo in Manhattan and let their children get a closer look at some animals.  The June morning turned out to be pretty warm and sticky, but that didn't damper the enthusiasm of those who attended. Kids had the opportunity to practice lots of fun zoo vocabulary.

The PAT group also hosted their annual Splash 'n Play Water Day in July and had an excellent turnout for a morning of bubbles, 'painting' the building (with water of course), splashing in the kiddie pool or water table and running in the sprinkler.  It was a great chance to enjoy sensory play and explore the way water works. Check out our slideshow!. Summertime Fun

New this year was a morning of gymnastics at CATTS gymnastics in Wamego.  The little ones enjoyed running, rolling and tumbling on the wall to wall mats, bouncing on the trampolines and climbing in the foam block pit.  Lots of large muscles were exercised on this July morning!

All in all, it was a summer full of fun.... Just the way a summer should be!

Coming up soon... the annual pumpkin patch trip to Burch Acres south of Wamego on October 17th.  Meet us there at 10:00 a.m.  Call if you have questions:  785-457-3462 and ask for Dena or Amy.
