Student Athlete of the Week
Becky Lightfoot
September 19, 2008
The Rock Creek volleyball team is
off to a scorching start at 14-0 through the season's first two
weeks, and junior Becky Lightfoot has been one of
the major reasons for the Mustangs' success.
Rock Creek won the Nemaha Valley tournament
this past Saturday, defeating Marysville in the finals, and also
took a triangular from Osage City and Mission Valley on
Thursday. Lightfoot, a returning All-Mideast League
player, registered 45 kills, a hitting percentage over .400,
and 25 blocks over the seven matches last week. The Mustangs
also won the Wabaunsee tournament on August 30th, and they own
victories over Wamego and Royal Valley. For the season,
Lightfoot has 85 kills, a .380 hitting percentage, and 41
blocks.
Rock Creek will next be in action on
Tuesday in a showdown with Mid-East League rival and
defending 2A state champ St. Marys.
In addition to volleyball, Becky also
participates in basketball and track for the Mustangs.
Congratulations to Becky Lightfoot of Rock Creek, our
McDonald's/KMAN "Student Athlete of the Week."
