The word "Cool" was the favored word of the day used by students to describe the new St. George Elementary. Classes preschool-sixth grade started at the new facility Tuesday, September 30. The students spent their morning touring the new building, reading books in the new library, having p.e. in the new gym, as well as enjoying their new classrooms.
Ms. Edwards, (principal) welcomed the students back with an assembly sharing the new features of the school. She asked for descriptive words to describe the new school. One student said "Awesome, another, "Purple" a third shouted, "Giant" and lastly a student said, "Cool". This led into the staff singing to a Jamaican jingle written by Mrs. Armstead, (music teacher) called, "In our new school". The staff played instruments wearing their Hawaiian attire while the students joined in singing, "In our new school, life is so fine-a, kids really shine-a, in our new school".
Kindergartners from Mrs. Jensen's class were overheard talking about the school on the way back from the assembly. One student said, "I like our new school". Another said, "I like our new school SO MUCH!" A third commented, "I love our new school" while the last said, "Oh yah, I want to marry it!"
The general consensus was the new school is really cool!
