Rock Creek Volleyball State Runner-Up
November 04, 2008
The
Rock Creek Volleyball team traveled to Salina on October 31 to
compete at the 3A State Volleyball Tournament. The Mustangs
won their pool play (they played Frontenac, Hillsboro and Garden
Plain) on Friday. This placed them in the top four teams at the
tournament and allowed them to move into the Saturday
bracket.
On
Saturday the girls first met Jeff County North and won that match
in two games which allowed them to advance into the Championship
match against Garden Plain. The Mustangs stayed with the
Owls, but eventually fell in two, 21-25, 25-27 to claim the
runner-up position.
Coach
Schmitz states that he is extremely proud of the girls and their
remarkable season, ending with a record of 39-5. This is also the
first state appearance for Rock Creek Volleyball since the school
opened in 1991.

Coach
Schmitz was extremely impressed with all of the fan and community
support the team received. He received several comments on
how well-behaved our student body was and what great school spirit
they possessed.
