Information from Parent Night
What do we do with the nylon bags that come home each night?
The nylon bags will be sent home with your child each night to help enforce skills taught in class each day. Inside the bags will be a book and a purple sheet. Please sit with your child as he/she reads the assigned portion on the book and initial the purple sheet upon completion. I encourage you to ask your child questions about the content of what they read to help increase their comprehension of the text.
Please review detailed information on the nylon bags.
3rd math
Nylon bags are not sent home for 3rd grade math. However, students have flashcards that they should be practicing nightly.
What is Bal-a-vis-x?
Bal-A-Vis-X is a series
of Balance / Auditory / Vision exercises, of varied complexity, most
of which are deeply rooted in rhythm. These exercises require
full-body coordination and focused attention. The program utilizes
beanbags, racquetballs, balance boards, and multiple principles and
activities from Education Kinesiology. It demands cooperation,
promotes self-challenge, fosters peer teaching. It consists of
multiple thousands of physical/auditory/visual midline crossings in
three dimensions, crossings that are steadily rhythmic and
auditorily-based, their pace the natural outcome of proper physical
technique. In distilled essence, Bal-a-Vis-X enables the entire
mind-body system
to experience the natural symmetrical flow of a pendulum. (Bill
Hubert, 2007, pg. 101).
