Instruments
Right now the Legos are studying about all the musical instruments in an orchestra and band.  During this unit, I will use a web site that you can also access at home.  On this web site, students can create their own instrument, play music games, and many other things that will help them in their study of the instruments.

     Power Rings

Grades 1-4 earn Power Rings as their incentive and as a way of promoting class spirit.  Five rings can be earned daily which correspond with my 5 expectations.  A total of 40 rings is required to earn a party for the first class in their grade level to reach this goal.  Each point is a silver ring, and if they have earned all 5 points, then they get a gold ring.  The students have been doing a great job at Power Rings.

Ms. Burton's

2. Participate in all activities
3. Sing will a gentle tone
4. Be Respectful
5. Exit the room quietly

Check Your Behavior (CYB)

This is my classroom management policy for individual students.  If a student receives 3 CYB's in a class period, then a yellow CYB paper will be sent home.  This paper is the student's ticket back into music class.  Possible reasons for receiving a CYB:

Speaking out during class without permission
Distracting other students by making noises; touching others
Not staying in assigned places
Constantly talking to neighbor
Disrespectful behavior
Moving equipment without permission
