by Sara Miller
August 23, 2006
Six Rock Creek students traveled with their Spanish teacher Sara Miller to Mexico from July 25 through August 2. Stephanie Bellinder, Emma Cott, Whitney Henry, Chelsea Perry, Natalie Shoemaker, and Tricia Soeken visited Mexico City, the Yucatan Peninsula, and Isla Mujeres , seeing museums, pyramids, and churches along the way. They also bargained in markets, ate authentic Mexican food, and snorkeled. In addition, for four days students stayed with families in Merida and were able to practice their Spanish and see the every day life of Mexican families.
Sara Miller travels to Mexico every two years with students. The next summer trip will be 2008. Students are eligible to go if they have completed at least one year of high school Spanish and their school behavior is acceptable. The cost for the trip is approximately $1350, but varies from year to year. For more information, email Sara at millers@rockcreekschools.org
