September 10, 2009 Minutes

The September 10 Rock Creek Student Council General Assembly Meeting was called to order by Mr. Dugan at 10:30 in the commons. There were 17 members present. The first order of business was a homecoming theme. We divided into groups and brainstormed with the most creative idea being Justin Moore’s song Small Town USA; which would include the towns of Westmoreland, St. George, Blaine, and Flush.
Next, Mr. Dugan asked the assembly’s opinion on the type of vehicle the candidates ride in; the council voted for trucks over convertibles. The first choice for Grand-Marshall will be Dean Taylor with second choice going to Mr. Rogers. Mr. Dugan next announced that the volleyball team and cross country team will no have floats in the parade. The council agreed to have the coronation during half time. The winning king candidates will receive a plaque and others will receive a medal. Nolan Fike suggested having a color guard at the game. Several members suggested having the candidates meet the crown bearers to make the evening run smoother.
The next General Assembly meeting will be September 30 at 2:45 on the stage. The annual Regional Conference will be September 22.
