USD 323 Foundation
Education Above and Beyond
Rock Creek Unified School District 323 Foundation
P.O. Box 70

Origin and Vision
Through the vision and generosity of Clarence and Joyce Scritchfield, the USD 323 Foundation was established in 1994. Through a gift of $20,000, the Scritchfields have permanently funded a scholarship in the name of their son, Raymond, and provided a foundation to which others can contribute.
Raymond Scritchfield taught at St. George Jr. High School for a number of years and continued to teach at Rock Creek JSHS after consolidation. Raymond was a gifted teacher and coach who gave the very best to his students. Raymond championed all students, especially those who had to overcome life’s hardships.
Raymond Scritchfield died on May 26th, 1992 at the age of 45 of a heart attack while continuing his education at Kansas State University.
The USD 323 Foundation is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to enhance the educational process of the district by receiving and administering gifts. The mission is not to fund those known programs or school district projects that funded by tax dollars. The mission is to provide the “extra” that public funds do not provide. There is no implie intent to assume responsibility for the support of the schools in USD 323.
The PREMISE is that private citizens, businesses, and organizations should have the privilege of contributing financially to the school district whenever they have the interest and commitment to do so.
The foundation is independent of the Board of Education but works with the Board to achieve even greater educational excellence for the students and staff of USD 323.
Opportunities and Ideas
Guided by its major purposes, the Foundation had identified three major areas of school district support for which it is soliciting contributions:
* The Student Opportunities Fund provides endowed and one time scholarships or other post-secondary educational opportunities for Rock Creek High School students.
* The Teacher/Staff Enhancement Fund provides special opportunities for professional development that would not ordinarily be provided by the school district. All district employees or employee groups are eligible for these funds. Requests from other community groups would be considered.
* The Teaching Resources Supplemental Fund provides funds to support special classroom or school projects for students. Teachers at all levels are eligible for these funds.
* The Undesignated Fund provides funds for the general operations of the Foundation and will be used to support the other 3 funds.
The Foundation encourages gifts to these funds or for any other worthy educational purpose of the donor’s choice, which meet standards set by the Board of Education and are not discriminatory.
Contributions are deductible for federal income tax purposes. The Rock Creek USD 323 Foundation is a non-profit organization and an equal opportunity program. If you believe you have been discriminated against because of race, color, national origin, age, sex, or disability, write immediately to the Secretary of Agriculture, Washington D.C. 20250.
