"The Court previously took judicial notice that every computer is manufactured with an on/off switch, that parents may utilize, in the end, to control the information which comes into their home via the Internet."
~ Judge Arthur J. Tarnow, in Cyberspace v. Engler
Dear Parents,
As many of you know, I think the Internet is a wonderful tool. I often tell the kids they have something that their parents or grandparents didn’t have when they were younger. They have the world at their fingertips. Instant knowledge!
When I was younger I had to find a way to get across town to go the library. Of course, it was too time-consuming so I just didn’t bother to go. Whatever I wanted to learn more about went to the wayside and was forgotten.
The library is still a wonderful place to find great books and get information; however, if I want to know if my azaleas are acid loving plants all I have to do is to type in keywords in “Google” and there it is! Instant information! I love the Internet. But, with everything else, we are concerned about our children’s safety. So, what do we do if we want to keep our children safe and yet respect our kids’ privacy and trust them?

The bottom line is that your kids do NOT have a right to privacy when it comes to internet or computer use, and you as a parent have a right and a responsibility to see to it that they're not getting into anything they shouldn't be getting into. (Educational Cyber Playground)
